Ivy Studio has transformed a historic bank building in Montreal into offices for the digital advertising agency Cardigan. Some of the more impressive and eye-catching features of the renovation include a steel mesh mezzanine where architectural elements seek to maximize space and workstations on the ground floor that benefit from natural light.
The historic bank building was built in 1907 in the Rosemont area of the Canadian city. Projects such as these offer many design possibilities for architects as such structures have their own charm and layout peculiarities that could be useful for new purposes. Ivy Studio, for example, chose to preserve the building’s large arched windows and enhance the visual balance in the space by installing natural oak flooring. In the basement, on the other hand, the architects undertake a “futuristic” approach by using bright colors and contrasting aesthetics.
