Davina McCall reveals she started ‘making an effort’ after men stopped wolf whistling at her in her 40s – and wore sexy undies every day when she was single.
The TV presenter said she donned lingerie every day to feel great and insisted wearing ‘off-white, non-matching’ undies is ‘not loving yourself enough’.
She said she was gutted when she turned 45 because nobody wolf-whistled at her anymore.
The TV presenter, 56, was speaking at the launch of the world’s first Mid Life Sex Festival, an online event for menopausal women on Thursday.
Davina said: ‘When I was single I walked around wearing sexy lingerie knowing nobody else was going to see it other than me. And that made me feel great.

‘I think lingerie is really important.’
She added: ‘So many friends of mine wear beautiful dresses and then I say “Show me your undies” and they’re off-white, non-matching. It’s not loving yourself enough.
‘The first thing you put on in the morning, even if you’re not with anyone else, is your lingerie.’
The new month-long online sex festival is run by Glaswegian doctor Claire Macaulay, who spoke to Davina for the launch.
Davina revealed how she felt ‘disappeared’ when she turned 45.
She said: ‘I was completely non-existent. I have to be honest about that.
‘I used to walk down the street in my 30s and I’d get attention. People would look or I’d get a wolf-whistle. Obviously I wouldn’t want to be harassed, but there was nothing.’
The Masked Singer judge felt like she ‘blended into the wallpaper’ and said she would walk into a party and think she had nothing to say because ‘nobody heard me or saw me’.

‘I felt like I was gone,’ she added. ‘I started saying to myself, if you’re not going to see me, then I’m going to make you see me. I decided I wasn’t going quietly.
‘So I make more of an effort over my appearance now than I did when I was younger.’
Davina continued: ‘You don’t need to fancy me, you just need to see me. I want to exist. And I feel very strongly about that.
‘As a woman, if you feel that and feel invisible, start making little changes to make yourself visible. And exercise will give you more confidence to do that.
‘You have to desire yourself before anyone else will desire you.
‘Exercise will help you get there, HRT, eating well and acts of self love, like having a bath and doing a scrub or moisturising your skin.’
Former Big Brother presenter Davina, who has been married twice, also urged women to buy lubrication and sex toys, adding that when she was younger it was something people never discussed.
She said: ‘As a mid-life woman, I now think lube should be in every woman’s drawer, whether you have a dry vagina or not.

‘Masturbation is a word people shouldn’t be embarrassed to talk about either. It’s one of the greatest joys. Every woman should have some lube and a sex toy that works for her in her bedside table.’
However she urged parents to heed her warning, adding: ‘But if something arrives from you for the sex shop tell your children not to open any brown boxes!’
In her online session with Dr Macaulay, Davina also discussed vaginal oestrogen and the realities of HRT.
She talked about the realities of vaginal atrophy among women of menopausal age, and urged women to ‘get your vagina fixed.’
Davina said: ‘If you’re going to talk to your GP about being menopausal or not then if you have a dry vagina put that on the list to talk to the GP about.
‘Your doctor is only going to listen to what you tell then, and you haven’t put your dry vagina down because you’re hoping they’re going to ask you, then they might not.
‘That is the easiest fix of all. And it’s the most uncomfortable and debilitating. It’s the one thing that will affect your desire the most. So get it fixed.’
The 30-day online festival is set to explore a variety of topics from sex toys to bedroom kinks, as well as issues around relationships, libido and desire.
Davina’s revelations come after she was awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting following a television career spanning more than two decades.

She smiled as she was presented with the award by Princess Anne at an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.
McCall was joined by her partner Michael Douglas as well as her daughter Holly Robertson for the occasion.
The TV presenter heaped praise on the Princess Royal after being made an MBE for services to broadcasting.
Davina said Anne had always been one of her favourite royals and shared her ‘gung-ho’ attitude to life.
The presenter added that she was ‘terrified’ before the investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, but that it was an ‘honour’.
