This minimalist and pared-back Blue Bottle Coffee shop recently opened in Shanghai’s Qiantan area. The establishment was designed by architect Keijjij Ashizawa. The aesthetic of the space is invitingly chic and captivating, signaling strong modern sensibilities. Some of the most eye-catching aspects of Ashizawa’s design are the distinctive glazed facade and the interior color and material palette that pays homage to the surrounding brick architecture.
When designing the Blue Bottle Coffee shop, the architect drew inspiration from the establishment’s context and aimed to create a connection between the structure and the surrounding environment. The ground floor of the cafe features “a double-height space with an atrium-like feeling,” intended to connect the interior with the adjacent park.
