Tesla Cybertruck leakers get stern disciplinary aciton warning, signalling production ramp may be on the horizon

Leaked images of Tesla’s upcoming Cybertruck have been a major source of hype and information for fans of the upcoming electric pickup. Such images have allowed keen-eyed fans to glean much about the EV’s proportions, underlying structure, and development progress. Recently, an internal Tesla notice has been — ironically — leaked on social media site X (fka Twitter) by @TeslaPhx, revealing that the carmaker is looking to stem the gush of internal Cybertruck images.

Effective today, any employees or contractors found taking photos of [sic] videos on-site of anything related to the Cybertruck (e.g. vehicle, parts, production like, etc.) without an official business need/justification (i.e. dictated by job/scope and validated by Security during initial contact) will be immediately escorted off-site pending HR investigation and follow up contact.

While it was almost certainly frowned upon for workers to take and share images of the internal workings of Tesla’s assembly lines or vehicles in development, the timing of the warning is curiously close to the vehicle’s imminent release date. This sudden serious handling of Cybertruck leaks could indicate that Tesla will soon start to ramp up production of the Cybertruck.

It’s been reported that the Cybertruck should officially start reaching customers in Q3, 2023, and the first production units have already started rolling off the production line, lending credence to the theory of a production ramp happening soon.

It remains to be seen whether Tesla will also cut down on the Cybertruck’s undisguised public appearances, but those could still provide Tesla and Cybertruck fans with the exposure they crave if Tesla continues to test the vehicles on regular roads.
