The Mix Fold 3 converts from a ~6.7-inch display smartphone to an 8.03-inch tablet whereas the K60 Ultra does not; nevertheless, they are a hit with Xiaomi and Redmi fans so far, according to the OEM. The 2 new devices’ pre-order event numbers are in, and they officially make for happy reading.
Over 220,000 units of the K60 Ultra (or K60 “Extreme Edition“) changed hands during the event: a new record for its sub-series, apparently. Xiaomi has also announced that the Mix Fold 3 did 2.25 times better than its predecessor the Fold 2 in the same terms which, again, smashes the standard laid down by that 2022 flagship.
Furthermore, Xiaomi asserts that the K60 Ultra and Mix Fold 3 took only 5 minutes each to attain these new achievements. Therefore, the OEM’s reluctance to release the latter internationally is all the more of a mystery. The new K60 series flagship, at least, will get a global re-brand as part of the Xiaomi 13T series…well, sort of.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
