Zoë Kravitz talked marriage, children and her new movie in an interview with Esquire.
Specifically, the High Fidelity star, 35, discussed her feelings about having kids with her fiancé Channing Tatum, 44 – admitting she’s not sure if she wants a child of her own.
‘There’s a lot of pressure on women to have children, and there’s a feeling that if you don’t, you don’t have a purpose here,’ she told the outlet.
The Little Big Lies star realized during her first marriage to actor Karl Glusman in 2019, that she didn’t plan on having kids and Zoe – who talked about the ‘hurtful’ split with her mom Lisa Bonet – wanted to surround herself with friends who felt the same.
‘For a lot of people that have children, it is this giant, life-changing event — and I do think there is a certain amount of focus and respect that they should get from their community,’ she said, adding that she wished the big things in her life were treated with as much celebration as someone having a baby.

‘This movie, it feels like I gave birth,’ Kravitz said, referring to Blink Twice, her directorial debut.
The Magic Mike star shares his daughter Everly, 11, with his ex-wife Jenna Dewan.
‘For a long time, I felt like there was something wrong with me,’ Kravitz told the outlet.
‘I was waiting for this light to go off in my head, and it never did. When you’re younger, you’re like, “Well, I can’t have kids. I’m too young! It’d be crazy,”‘ she continued. ‘I had to actually look at, “What do I want?”‘
And Channing appears to be on the same page, talking about creating Blink Twice with Kravitz with People on the red carpet premiere of the film last week.
‘To get to create something with someone that you love is probably one of the most gratifying things other than having a kid with somebody I think,’ Tatum told the outlet when asked what the ‘best part’ about shooting a movie with his partner was.
‘It’s one of those… you truly are creating something from nothing and it’s just like creating a marriage or creating something where you’re like, everything that we are is going into this thing and you want to make it with people that you love,’ he added.
The lovebirds met when Zoë, 35, cast Channing in her directorial debut, which she also co-wrote.
‘She brought me a script, and it was definitely something that no one has ever thought of me for,’ Tatum told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show last month. ‘And I really was like, “Wow. Why do you want me for this?”‘
‘I had one meeting with her, and then she went away for like a year and a half to work on the thing,’ he continued. ‘
‘Then my producer came to me and was like, ‘Look, this thing’s getting really good. We might actually make this.’ And then I read it, and it was. It was really, really good,’

‘I’m just going to tell you, it’s a wild, wild movie… You’ll see me in a different way than you’ve ever seen me, that’s for sure,’ he teased.
He attempted to explain the plot of the movie on the late night show, saying: ‘Look, Frida is the main character, played by Naomi Ackie. Lord, she’s a beast of an actress. And she’s a cocktail waitress, and she gets invited to Slater King, my character’s, island.’
He added, ‘And she goes… and I don’t know if you’ve ever had a long weekend before where you’re like, “I don’t even know what day it is exactly. Is it Sunday? Is it Saturday?” And then, during this, like, euphoric, sort of, like, drug induced experience, you start to realize that maybe everything isn’t exactly okay.’
‘You really have to decide who you are in that moment. And Frida really goes on a a journey. And she turns into that girl,’ he stated.
