A thrifty couple who asked a hundred companies for housewarming gifts were greeted by a much-welcomed surprise from supermarket Iceland.
Robert and Nat, from Worcester, bought a new home earlier this year, but were facing an empty household with minimal items, so they decided to try their chances and call on huge businesses to support them with freebies.
Confessing they had only sent 50 of 100 letters at the time, the pair quipped: ‘If you don’t ask, you don’t get!’
In a TikTok video from May that has racked up more than one million views on Rob’s account, @robertibus, the couple revealed their very first response was from the British superstore chain.
Before opening the mysterious cardboard package, Rob said: ‘This is from Iceland. A massive thank you from Iceland, they are amazing for their frozen foods.’

As they were cracking the box open, Nat expressed how ‘excited’ she was for the reveal.
The couple were stunned when they opened the delivery up to find a Daewoo Double Drawer Air Fryer, which is worth £79.99.
Nat, who was taken aback by the illustrious gift, exclaimed ‘Oh my days,’ before reading the gift note left by Iceland, which read: ‘Wishing you all the best in your new home with your new air fryer.’
The mother-of-two said: ‘I’ve actually wanted an air-fryer for so long. I’m so excited about this. Oh my goodness, thank you so much, Iceland. Right now we literally don’t have a kitchen in our new house, so we can actually use this for cooking.’
Rob added: ‘Turns out Iceland are not only great for your frozen goods but also apparently for air fryers. I would have been happy with the biscuits. I am over the moon.’
Panning out to their empty kitchen filled with bright yellow cupboards, they thanked the company as they displayed their new appliance.
People flocked to the comments of the now-viral clip, as many curious viewers had an abundance of questions for the pair.
‘Do Iceland even sell this air fryer?’, one asked as a second queried: ‘What did you write on the letters?’

Social media users flooded the comments of the now viral clip, praising Iceland but also asking how the couple managed to pull the freebie off
Although many were dubious that the pair received the gift from Iceland, the company itself wrote in the comments: ‘You’re so welcome guys! Good luck with your new home!’
Several others were keen to congratulate the pair, with one writing: ‘Omg love this, so glad it’s working for you. but what a good promotion for Iceland too.’
‘This is great. I always work on the principle you don’t ask you don’t get too. So pleased for you,’ another penned.
One user chimed: ‘Actually brilliant. These huge companies make so much on higher margins and markups. About time they dish out too!’
‘Well done Iceland helping people,’ an individual added, whilst another said: ‘That’s brilliant, well done Iceland for getting involved.’
