Former U.S. President Donald Trump on late Friday proposed a debate with Kamala Harris on Fox News on September 4, an event that has not been confirmed yet by the Vice President’s campaign.
The debate will take place in a yet to be determined location in the battleground state of Pennsylvania, Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Trump’s announcement closely follows the Democratic National Committee’s latest advertising campaign, which targeted him for not agreeing to a debate with Harris.
The rules will be similar to the first debate with President Joe Biden, who has since stepped down from the presidential race, though with a “full arena audience,” Trump said.
Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Seeking Alpha.
The Republican presidential nominee had previously agreed to appear on ABC News and debate Biden for a second time. Trump had emerged as the clear winner in his first debate with Biden held on June 27.
After Biden dropped out on July 21 and endorsed Harris, Trump said he would not debate Harris because she was not the official candidate.
Harris secured enough votes on Friday to become the official Democratic presidential nominee, the first Black and South Asian woman ever to secure a major party’s nomination.
Fox News had first proposed the debate between Trump and Harris last month.
According to Trump, the debate will be moderated by Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum.
