Donald Trump is not due to speak today, but has travelled to Milwaukee for the event and will speak later in the week.
He told the New York Post the contents of his speech had changed dramatically and would focus on national unity after the shooting, rather than the policies of US President Joe Biden.

“Based on yesterday’s terrible events, I was going to delay my trip to Wisconsin, and the Republican National Convention, by two days, but have just decided that I cannot allow a ‘shooter,’ or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else,” Trump wrote in a social media post.
The speaking list is varied and includes Trump’s son’s fiancee Kimberly Guilfoyle and Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump, who is married to Eric Trump.

Contenders who lost out to JD Vance to be Trump’s vice-presidential nominee, including North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and senator Marco Rubio, will speak over the week.
Right-wing TV personality Tucker Carlson has a speaking slot, as do country music stars Lee Greenwood and Chris Janson, along with rapper Amber Rose.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is scheduled to speak, as is Nikki Haley, who took on Trump in the primary race to become the Republican candidate.
Each day of the convention features a theme that plays off Trump’s “Make America Great Again” theme. Monday’s theme is “Make America Wealthy Once Again”, and will feature discussions on economic policies.
