Australian actress Abbey Lee revealed that Kevin Costner made her feel ‘really comfortable’ with filming their sex scene in Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.
The 37-year-old supermodel portrays Marigold in the first part of the epic Western who is the love interest of Hayes Ellison, the lead character played by Costner, 69, who also is the director, producer and co-writer.
Marigold and Hayes have an intimate scene inside a wagon in the film released on Friday in theaters.
‘Kevin was very sensitive about that. He made sure that I was really comfortable and we had a long talk about it beforehand,’ Lee told People in an article on Sunday.
Lee said that Costner ‘told me how it would be shot, that there wouldn’t be any nudity, that there would be nothing graphic.’

‘You have to talk about the details of it so you understand what’s going on so everyone feels safe and comfortable. And we obviously had those conversations,’ she added.
The Mad Max: Fury Road star continued that it also was a ‘matter of feeling comfortable with the crew that needs to be in the room and the ones who don’t, aren’t there.’
Lee admitted that ‘there’s always an element of discomfort’ with sex scenes.
‘They’re always a bit weird, but as long as you can trust the people around you … it’s just weird because there’s people standing in a room while you’re doing this fake, intimate thing. It’s just strange,’ Lee said.
An official synopsis teases that Horizon ‘explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won — and lost — through the blood, sweat and tears of many.’
‘Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Kevin Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America,’ the summary added.
The four-part epic has a star-studded ensemble cast that includes: Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Michael Rooker, Jamie Campbell Bower, Ella Hunt, Jena Malone, Luke Wilson and Costner’s son Hayes, 15, making his acting film debut.
Costner gushed about Hayes while promoting the film in May on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.

Kimmel, 56, asked if he had to pay his teenage son to be in the movie.
‘He didn’t have to audition,’ Costner quipped.
‘Listen, I know these parts are so important in people’s career, so I don’t just hand them out like candy,’ he added.
‘Oh, I was going to ask if I could be in it,’ Kimmel joked.
Costner continued that he wanted Hayes for the movie, but with a part that wasn’t too big for him.
‘It was something I could have him with me,’ Costner said.
Horizon: An American Saga – Part 1 was released in theaters on Friday and Chapter 2 will be released on August 16.
Costner has started work on Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 is in development.
