Daisy May Cooper gave a health update as she said her newborn son Benji is ‘doing brilliantly’ after he arrived ‘earlier than expected’.

The actress, 37, took to Instagram on Friday to say that she was very grateful to everyone for their ‘beautiful messages’.

The comedy star shared a picture of herself cradling Benji in her arms while still in the hospital along with a comical update.

She wrote: ‘Update: ignore the dinner plate sized areola… little benji is doing brilliantly. Thank you so much for all your beautiful messages xx.’

Daisy had revealed her third child had arrived  ‘a bit earlier than we expected’ on social media on Thursday.

‘I cannot thank @deliverysuitegrh enough. The way you looked after us through such a scary time was above and beyond. you are all bloody superstars. I am so blessed. Welcome to the world little Benji, ya nutter Born 06/06/24.’

In her video she was seen being pushed by a nurse into the neonatal unit where she broke down in tears when she saw her little one.

She was seen crying ‘hi bubba’ as she reached into his incubator to touch him.

She announced her pregnancy with Bristol-based DJ Anthony, 45, in March following a whirlwind romance after they met on dating app Hinge.

Daisy already has two children, daughter Pip, five, and son Jack, three, with her ex-husband Will Weston.

Anthony, who has two children from a previous relationship, is a DJ on the Bristol night scene and plays club shows under the moniker ‘Fuse One’.

He reportedly moved into Daisy’s Cotswolds home last year.

The couple met after matching on Hinge. They were first seen together attending a car boot sale in Cheltenham, but the TV BAFTA Awards were their first notable public appearance as a couple in May.

She previously told Fabulous Mag: ‘Now I understand a relationship shouldn’t be rowing at 3am, then walking out and turning your phone off.

‘That’s not what love is. Love is being able to live together on a day-to-day basis, enjoying each other’s company, being completely yourself and having that accepted.

‘He doesn’t want to compete with me. He earns £1,500 a month and he’s the sweetest, kindest, most chilled-out man.’

She spoke about her romance on the Katie Price podcast: ‘I’m with the same guy I’ve been with for a year and he’s so f****** good for me.

‘He’s so calming and it’s made me realise that I can actually be a f****** good partner if I have a nice partner in return, if he’s not trying to f****** control me, or compete with me or put me down.’

Mere days after welcoming her third child, reports emerged that Daisy’s latest TV show Rain Dogs has been axed after just one series.

Rain Dogs was a joint venture between the BBC and HBO but hopes for a second season have been dashed after disappointing ratings in the UK and US.

The show starred Daisy as struggling single mum Costello Jones, who works in a strip club and was written by the British-Irish author Cash Carraway.

The eight part series, which aired in March 2023, was hailed by critics and holds an approval rating of 93% on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes.

Daisy’s performance earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 2024 Broadcasting Press Guild Awards while Cash was announced as a BAFTA Breakthrough talent for creating, writing, and executive producing the show.

But despite the stream of positive reviews and accolades insiders have told The Sun that the series will not be returning.

‘It’s disappointing for Daisy as Rain Dogs was a good opportunity to make some inroads in the US,’ the insider has spilled.

‘But unfortunately, it didn’t rate too well on both sides of the pond. So the production company behind it, Sid Gentle, agreed with Cash it was time to move on. Some critics praised the writing but ultimately it just didn’t pull up any trees.’

It’s thought both Daisy and Cash will continue to work with the BBC on other projects.
