The most affordable way to get one of Motorola’s new, almost OPPO Find X3-like camera humps has just been released. The updated housing has just 1 lens in the Moto G Play 2024, although, unlike the G04, the rear camera upgrades to 50MP.
The Play 2024 is also thinner and lighter than its 2023 predecessor, yet still packs a 5,000mAh battery with (slightly) faster 15W charging. Its Snapdragon 680-powered 6.5-inch 90Hz LCD HD+ display still has a chin, although it is covered with Gorilla Glass 3 in this generation.
Motorola also asserts that the Play 2024 can “enhance your entertainment” with Dolby Atmos support for its stereo speakers – it also still sports a 3.5mm jack along its flat top edge.
It is available from now in its single Sapphire Blue colorway with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage from Motorola or Amazon for $149.99, whereas the Play 2023 drops to $99.99 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
