RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Cameron Tyson scored 18 points and Kobe Williamson converted a three-point play with seven seconds left as the Seattle U men beat Cal Baptist 61-60 on Saturday night.
Tyson had five rebounds for the Redhawks (13-9, 6-5 Western Athletic Conference). Alex Schumacher finished 6 of 11 from the field to add 15 points. Williamson shot 3 of 8 from the field and 3 for 3 from the free-throw line to finish with nine points.
Dominique Daniels Jr. led the way for the Lancers (13-8, 6-4) with 26 points. Brantly Stevenson added 10 points for Cal Baptist. In addition, Hunter Goodrick had eight points, 16 rebounds and five assists. The Lancers ended a five-game winning streak with the loss.
Men’s basketball
• Shaw Anderson scored 17 points as Seattle Pacific (13-11, 6-5 GNAC) held off visiting Northwest Nazarene (11-8, 7-4) for a 66-64 win.
• Eastern Washington (14-8) improved to 8-1 in the Big Sky after a 78-65 win at Montana (15-8, 6-4).
Women’s basketball
• Mya Moore had 15 points and 13 rebounds for Seattle U (1-19, 1-10 WAC), but visiting Cal Baptist (17-2, 9-1) came away with an 86-77 win.
• Jamie Loera had 19 points and 11 rebounds as Eastern Washington (17-5, 7-2 Big Sky) shrugged off a two-game skid with a 61-56 win against visiting Montana (15-6, 7-3).
Hockey
• Eric Alarie scored the lone goal for the Seattle Thunderbirds in a 7-1 loss to the visiting Portland Winterhawks.
• Ben Hemmerling had two assists, but the visiting Everett Silvertips’ rally fell shot in a 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Giants.
Track and field
• Washington’s Bruno Comin Pescador scored 6,000 points in the heptathlon at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., taking second and likely earning a spot at the NCAA indoor national championships. Kaia Tupu-South added to her UW record in the shot put at 56 feet, 2 inches.
• Former Cougar Ray Wells Jr. ran the fastest time men’s 60-meter time in the world this season at 6.48 seconds, while sophomore Mason Lawyer finished runner-up in a personal-best 6.59, the ninth-best time in the nation at the Riverfront Invite in Spokane.
Tennis
• The Washington State women (2-2) fell 5-2 to Baylor in Seattle.
