For example, mid-range gamers who are in the market for an RTX 4070 gaming laptop should take a closer look at an ongoing sale for the HP Omen 16.
More specifically, Best Buy is currently offering the best deal yet for the 2023 HP Omen 16 with an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS octa-core processor and 16GB RAM as the reputable electronics store is selling the 16-inch gaming laptop for $1,099 including free shipping or store pickup. This particular SKU is further equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 with 8GB VRAM and a 512GB SSD. In comparison to HP’s official list price, this offer for the Omen 16 provides a massive discount of $750 or almost 41 percent.
We have tested a slightly different model variant of the HP Omen 16, but since our test unit was also equipped with the aforementioned RTX 4070, our GPU benchmarks should be representative of the version that is on sale here. Our review also contains detailed measurements of the 165Hz IPS display, which only sports a 1080p resolution even though the gaming laptop’s dedicated graphics card would be powerful enough to render many games at QHD.
In our conclusion, we also praised the HP gaming notebook for its consistent performance, but new owners will have to live with a disappointing webcam and more or less outdated port selection without USB 4. Nevertheless, the price-performance ratio of this Ryzen 9 laptop is quite enticing and will probably convince many gamers who have a budget of around $1,000.
