Google now asserts that Bard is “an even more helpful and globally accessible AI collaborator” thanks to an upgrade to a version of Gemini Pro that should work “in any language, country and territory” supported by its chatbot at the time of writing.
Accordingly, Bard is now touted to carry out tasks such as text processing, comprehension and summarization in at least 40 different languages used in at least 230 distinct regions. Google has also integrated a new “G” button into the bot’s UI that should cause it to corroborate its output in all its new tongues.
Google also intended Bard to be a multimodal AI from its introduction, and has made more progress in that vein with support for image generation. The new feature, conferred by the updated model Imagen 2, is backed to “balance quality and speed, delivering high-quality, photorealistic outputs” in response to a given descriptive prompt.
Bard-generated images are also rated as recognizable via SynthID “digitally identifiable watermarks” and to limit potentially harmful outputs while protecting the IP of “named people” through “technical guardrails and investments in the safety of training data“. This latest version of Google’s AI is available online from now.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
