The demo includes the first chapter of the game and begins with a flashback in which Cloud remembers what happened in Nibelheim years before the actual story of Final Fantasy 7. The game is played from the perspective of Cloud and Sephiroth. According to initial experiences, the demo will take around 70 to 80 minutes to play. On February 21, the demo will be expanded to include a freely explorable part of the Junon region – but only for those who have completed the Nibelheim mission. It will not be possible to transfer progress to the full game.
What players can expect in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continues the retelling of the legendary 1997 JRPG Final Fantasy 7, which is considered one of the highlights of the series. It expands on the story of the 2020 remake while retaining the innovative battle system that combines real-time combat with strategic command decisions. A recently released trailer focusing on the infamous antagonist Sephiroth has heightened anticipation for the game. He is also one of the playable characters in Rebirth.
Players control the protagonists beyond the boundaries of the city of Midgar into a much larger world. As a result, the level sections expand considerably, but offer fast travel options thanks to the return of the popular Chocobos – the yellow feathered mounts – and the introduction of new means of transportation, such as a Segway-like vehicle in the trailer. The developers are not sticking strictly to the original script from 1997, which means that even connoisseurs of the original can expect new twists and surprises. The main story is set to last around 40 hours.
