The Dell G15 is slowly being replaced by the fancier 16-inch sister model, but that doesn’t mean that frugal gaming laptop buyers have to spend more than $1,000 on the slightly larger but also better-specced G16. Instead, Dell is still selling a few budget-friendly configurations of the Dell G15 5530, one of which is powered by the cost-effective RTX 4050.
This particular variant of the Dell G15 is currently on sale for $719, which is the result of a significant discount of $330 or 31 percent in relation to the gaming laptop’s regular list price. Bargain hunters should apply the customized newsletter coupon in order to maximize their savings. The aforementioned price applies to the G15 SKU with the Intel Core i5-13450HX processor with 16GB RAM and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card with 6GB VRAM.
We recently reviewed a quite similar version of the Dell G15 5530, but the SKU that is on sale here is equipped with the 1080p base display with 120Hz, a peak brightness of 250 nits and a meager 45% NTSC color space coverage. Aside from the lackluster display, we found that Dell’s budget RTX 4050 gaming laptop provides a lot of value and sports formidable battery life of roughly 7 hours and a second M.2 slot in addition to the primary 512GB SSD.
However, we also noted that the rather outdated chassis of the Dell G15 is both heavy and bulky, and the same applies to the power brick. Furthermore, the RTX 4050 gaming laptop is power-hungry and lacks modern connectivity options such as USB 4. Since many of these drawbacks won’t necessarily bother frugal 1080p gamers, this budget notebook deal at Dell’s official online shop is worth mentioning.
