The launch of the long-awaited Capcom game Dragon’s Dogma 2 (available to pre-order for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC) is scheduled for March 22, 2024. It will be the first game for which the Japanese publisher will set a price of around 70 US dollars. This is the first indication that Capcom is aiming to change its own pricing policy.
As part of the current quarterly report, the publisher was asked what the pricing policy for the coming financial year should look like – especially in view of the fact that games from other providers are increasingly being sold at a price of 70 US dollars. Capcom responded as follows:
“Dragon’s Dogma 2, which will be released later this quarter, will be priced at $69.99 USD. However, as development costs are rising like the rest of the industry, a price review is an option. Ultimately, we will set the price carefully and monitor user reactions.”
While this answer is very carefully worded, it does give a clear indication that Capcom will not be avoiding an increase in game prices in the future. With Dragon’s Dogma 2, the upcoming release at least gives us hope that the price increases will be justified.

As a child in the 90s, my Gameboy was my steady companion. After school, the PlayStation was fired up. When I finally got my first PC, I was completely hooked. My passion for gaming has never waned since. For me, writing for Notebookcheck means reporting on topics that are really close to my heart – in addition to gaming, I also like to write about e-mobility, photovoltaics and innovative gadgets. When I’m not sitting at my computer, I’m probably on water rescue duty on the Baltic coast or trying to counteract the downsides of my geek life – namely sitting for long periods – at the local swimming pool.
