In 2022, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra was one of the most exciting flagship models on the market and the first smartphone with a 200-MP camera. In our review, it scored points for a “strong combination of bright display, fast SoC, long runtimes and a fully-fledged triple camera.”
Around a year and a half after its launch in Europe, many people are still using the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra today. They can now look forward to exciting new features. Following last year’s update to Android 13 for the smartphone, initially delivered with Android 12, the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra follows a number of other models such as the Edge 40 Pro and the Moto G53 in getting the update to Android 14.
According to a report by YTechB, the update is available for download in various regions, including South America and Europe. Availability in other regions will follow soon, as firmware version U1SQ34.52-21-1 is expected to be released in waves.
The 1.45 GB update was made available just a few weeks after Motorola’s official confirmation and brings a number of new features to the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. These include monochrome designs with more color options, new system fonts, improved privacy and security. However, a few critical reports are already circulating online about certain issues and a few removed features.

I have been fascinated by technology for around 25 years – especially technology that makes life easier rather than more complicated. Mobile devices such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches are particularly close to my heart as is the booming subject of smart homes. I have been working in these areas for several years now as a news and reviews editor. I have been active with various websites, including the smart home blogs homee, Nuki, and siio, as well as tech portals such as Giga and TechRadar. I have been writing news and laptop reviews for Notebookcheck since 2020.

Growing up in regional Australia, I first became acquainted with computers in my early teens after a broken leg from a football (soccer) match temporarily condemned me to a predominately indoor lifestyle. Soon afterwards I was building my own systems. Now I live in Germany, having moved here in 2014, where I study philosophy and anthropology. I am particularly fascinated by how computer technology has fundamentally and dramatically reshaped human culture, and how it continues to do so.
