Tiny11 developer NTDev has posted a new video about a brand-new project. Just recently, the dev updated the stable version, which made the Windows 11 OS much smaller than before and offered Windows Copilot support. But in the video that’s in the spotlight, the developer showcased a highly stripped-down version of the operating system.
While the last stable update of Tiny11 gets Windows 11 to 20 GB from 64 GB, NTDev showcased a variant that’s just 100 MB. It has forced the operating system back to its legacy roots, having only a command line interface. The developer calls this graphical user interface-less variant of the OS “Minwin.”
There’s nothing flashy about this 100 MB version of Microsoft Windows 11. It has no Start menu, nor does it have Copilot to help you get things done. But all this stripping made OS barely functional. As the developer notes, there’s not a lot you can do with it.
However, it does showcase how much of the operating system can be removed and still have it run. Another interesting bit about this Tiny11 variant is that it still has support for multitasking.
As of now, the developer hasn’t offered a downloadable image for the latest “Minwin.” But this could get someone to cut back a Tiny11 to this state and run it on a Raspberry Pi (Pi 4 Model B curr. $52.99 on Amazon).
