The Digital Markets Act or DMA comes into effect in March 2024, and “leading European browser developer” Opera now asserts that it will be ready “to compete for iOS users” with a fully functional version of the One browser for iPhones.
The executive vice president for Opera’s mobile division Jørgen Arnesen credits the DMA with “fostering competition and offering users a more diverse selection of browsers on iOS” in advance. The company is confident that those iPhone owners will go for its browser from their new selection screens as it puts the integrated AI originally known as Aria “in focus“.
Furthermore, a similar experience for iPadOS may also be on the way soon. Opera One for iOS should be available to install in a few months; in the meantime, its continued development is touted to be assured with its maker’s upcoming (and also Europe-based) “major investment in a key AI infrastructure project“, more details on which will be forthcoming soon.
Get Opera One even sooner on a new Samsung Galaxy S24 with a limited-time storage upgrade from Amazon.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
