Should all the leaks and rumors about its name alone prove true, Nothing will take overtly direct aim at the Google Pixel 8a with its next smartphone. Accordingly, it is believed to debut at MWC 2024 as the Phone (2a), a new way to get teenage engineering-informed mobile device design at less than the $649 a flagship Phone (2) starts at with 12GB of RAM on Amazon today.
Now, more information along those lines has allegedly leaked out via safety watchdog TÜV SÜD. It has reportedly approved the (2a), appearing under the model number linked to it in an earlier tip, to use a 45W power brick provided by its OEM – just like its putative big sibling.
Unfortunately, the new leak does not cover the battery in question, although a hint that all Phone (2)-series smartphones heard of thus far will have the same display size might imply that the first-gen budget spin-off might have a battery of at least 4,000mAh in size, rather than the 1,000mAh value from the same leak that is, one might hope, a bizarre inaccuracy of some kind.
All in all, it seems Nothing might market its inaugural affordable-class smartphone as having some perks heretofore only available in its currently flagship, wired charging included.
Then again, its renders and the faux internals on show alone seem to negate any chance that wireless charging and reverse wireless charging will join them in becoming the bargain Nothing features of the near future.
I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
