Architecture studio Aedas unveils a look at the pair of skyscrapers dubbed One Future — both of which measure 150 meters in height. The buildings are located in Hangzhou, China, and are inspired by the look of lotus plants which are found on West Lake nearby. The One Future buildings are decorated with facades made from glass paneling and aluminum evoking a shimmering look with the help of the bronze fins that table along the base of the skyscrapers.
Wei Li, executive director, and Ken Wai, design principal at Aedas explain the design process and ideation to Dezeen, stating “The formal concept of these twin towers is from lotus roots which is a very popular plantation and of good metaphorical meaning in local Xiao Shan culture. Architecturally speaking, we were seeking for a simple and subtle form that can provide efficient floor layouts, while building up strong connections to the rich local culture.”
