Jeremy Renner discusses filming Mayor of Kingstown season 3 a year after his accident. On January 1, 2023, Renner was involved in a traumatic incident with a snow plow, resulting in severe injuries. Since then, the actor has been open about his recovery, often posting updates on his Instagram account. On January 10 of this year, Renner shared that he was back at work on Mayor of Kingstown, revealing a photo from his first day on set.

While shooting an upcoming Super Bowl commercial, Renner spoke with People about Mayor of Kingstown season 3. The actor made it clear that he’s eager to be back but admitted he’s “a little bit scared” as well. Renner pointed out that filming Mayor of Kingstown is “arduous” due to the long work hours and shooting “in the freezing cold outside in Pittsburgh.” Renner also mentioned a fear of “slipping and falling” due to his reduced “lower body strength” stemming from the accident. I don’t know if I’m looking forward to it. Again, I try to just do everything kind of step by step here. That’s one foot in front of the other one. Then you’re walking…I think I’m excited when I’m there and I get in a rhythm there. I’m excited about the character and, of course, all the people involved and all that in the storyline, but for me, I’m just tentative of confidence in work.

Renner’s Mayor of Kingstown Return Is the Ultimate Endurance Test

For Renner, filming Mayor of Kingstown season 3 will likely be the biggest test of his health since the accident. As he suggests in his comments, TV filming is particularly challenging, as the hours are often longer than on movie sets. Additionally, Renner leads Mayor of Kingstown‘s cast, meaning he’s in more scenes than some of his co-stars. The show often films at night as well, contributing to the challenging filming schedule.

However, other things are working in Renner’s favor. For one, the first two seasons of Mayor of Kingstown were 10 episodes each, and season 3 will likely be the same length. While Renner will be shooting for several months, it’s a smaller commitment than a network series with more episodes.

What’s more, Renner has been incredibly candid about his recovery so far, even acknowledging his nervousness in his post about returning to the set. While he understandably has some concerns, Mayor of Kingstown wouldn’t be back in production unless Renner was confident about his decision to return.
