Japanese developer D3 Publisher works with Monkeycraft to launch ‘Those Games.’ It is a direct nod to the gaming ads that users often encounter whilst scrolling on their phones. The two develop games that are a nod to mini-games as an anthology satirical approach to the gaming ads.
It is comprised of 250 stages including tower strategy, color-matching challenges, room puzzles, positioning puzzles, and more. Players are able to actually play the games and earn coins over time, with interactive experiences including the ‘Gotcha!’ machines that unlock titles and plates that can be applied to the game for a personalized experience. It does not actually take real money but is a playful nod to the mobile ads.
