Anycubic is known for its affordable and easy-to-use 3D printers, making them easy recommendations for beginners to this field. Their Kobra series of FDM printers has received positive reviews here and elsewhere. Now, that lineup’s second iteration has been expanded with the launch of four new Kobra 2 model variants, this time with a prominent push on high-speed printing and a choice of larger build volumes.
Fused deposition modeling (FDM) printing is ideal for those starting out with 3D printing on account of its low cost and complexity. This is where Anycubic shines with its Kobra 2 lineup. At US$199 (currently on sale for US$159 on Anycubic’s website), the entry-level Kobra 2 Neo represents pure value for those looking for small prints at a respectable speed. Prioritizing speed, the Kobra 2 Pro is the fastest of the lot with a speed of up to 500 mm/s and an extremely impressive acceleration of 20,000 m/s2. The Kobra 2 Plus balances the same speed and half the acceleration with a larger build volume of over 40 liters. Finally, the Kobra 2 Max, with an 88 liters build volume (420 x 420 x 500 mm), would be the model of choice for users printing significantly larger objects.
All three printers have Anycubic’s upgraded LeviQ 2.0 auto bed-leveling system and quick modular setup. Barring the Neo, the other three models feature a 4.3” LCD touchscreen, filament runout detector, vibration compensation, flow control and support for printing from the Anycubic App (which is “expected to be released in Q4 of 2023”). The Kobra 2 series can be pre-ordered now on the Anycubic website under its 8th anniversary sale.

I’ve always been interested in technology, but it was my passion for music-making and photography that led me to dive deep into audio and imaging technology and understand all the tools that had fascinated me. I hold degrees in electronics engineering and business management, and have worked as a software developer as well as in marketing. Apart from being an amateur musician and photographer, I enjoy reading books, being outdoors, cooking and lately, running.
