Who plays Mickey Bolitar in Harlan Coben’s Shelter? Meet rising star Jaden Michael
Harlan Coben’s Shelter has been in Amazon Prime Video’s top 10 TV shows since its August 18 release.
The lead character is Mickey Bolitar, whose father is dead and mother is in rehab – or so he thinks.
Mickey is told that his father is alive, even though he watched him die in a car crash, and his world is turned upside down.
So, who plays Mickey Bolitar? Meet the rising star Jaden Michael.

Who is Jaden Michael?
Jaden Michael is both an actor and model, whose rising star label has been supported by his lead role in Harlan Coben’s Shelter.
And he certainly qualifies. Born on October 5, 2003, Jaden has a litany of acting credits to his name before turning 20 years old.
He was born to a single mother and grew up first in a nice area in New Jersey, before having a defining move to Harlem, New York.
‘My heart lives in Harlem,’ he told Interview Magazine, ‘and that’s where I feel most comfortable, but at the time it was definitely an eye-opener.
‘I came to learn a lot about my skin, my person, and about who I am.’
Despite the beginning of his acting career starting so early, Jaden stayed in school and was a dedicated learner.
He knowns three languages – English, Spanish, and sign language – and previously told Vogue his desire to land a spot at an Ivy League university.
What else is Jaden Michael in?
Jaden got himself on the career ladder by doing voiceover work for children’s programme Dora The Explorer in 2013 as a baby jaguar.
His big break was when he appeared in the 2017 film Wonderstruck aged just 14, but his most notable performance so far is probably as a young Colin Kaepernick in Colin In Black And White.
He went to great lengths to play the former NFL star, revealing on The Drew Barrymore Show that he planned to fast for the month before filming to slim down, before bulking up as filming was going on so that he grew as the show developed.
His only other credit according to IMDb, since that 2021 series besides Harlan Coben’s Shelter, was in 2023’s Atrabilious which also starred Alec Baldwin and Whoopi Goldberg.

When is the next episode of Harlan Coben’s Shelter released?
The first three episodes of Harlan Coben’s Shelter were released on Friday August 18.
One new episode will be released each subsequent Friday until the eighth, finale episode on September 22.
So, the release schedule is:

- Episode 4 – Friday 25th August
- Episode 5 – Friday 1st September
- Episode 6 – Friday 8th September
- Episode 7 – Friday 15th September
