West Elm has partnered with so many different artisans, design personalities, and organizations over the years to bring shoppers exclusive collection after collection. But the Brooklyn-based brand’s latest collaboration with legendary media company National Geographic — which includes a bold assortment of textiles, decorative accessories, and storage solutions aimed at discovery and imaginative play — just might be one of the sweetest yet.
The bedding offerings, which includes quilts, sheeting, and shams, start at crib sizing and run up to a queen. Patterns are bold and bright enough to strike the right note in a kids’ space, but the textiles, in particular, can grow alongside say, a toddler’s first foray into a big-kid bed well into the tween years.
The biggest standouts in the collection, though, just might be the four rugs. They all retail for under $400 (most are actually under $250), which is a value for their size and level of detail. Whether you stick to the dinosaur theme or want to go with an astronaut design, the solar system, or an abstract topographical look, each piece feels soft and cushy underfoot — perfect for anchoring a bedroom or play area.
For an assortment that’s aimed at celebrating the universe, both West Elm and National Geographic wanted to keep environmental impact in mind. To that end, the assortment features products that are sustainably produced using lower-impact materials like cotton grown under the Better Cotton Standard and Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood.
