And while many viewers were shocked to hear the news after the couple appeared solid on the show, Brenton may have been dropping hints on Instagram about their tumultuous relationship weeks ago.

On Tuesday, Sophie posted a statement to Instagram about their split, saying it was ‘a disappointing ending’. 

While farmer Brenton has not yet publicly addressed their breakup, he alluded to it in a recent social media post. 

Last Monday, just a day before Sophie announced their split, Brenton posted a carousel of photos from his time on the show.

He also snubbed his ex-girlfriend in the post by not tagging her, even though he tagged all the farmers and host Sam Armytage.  

Brenton captioned the post: ‘Still up there with some of the best of times and best people.’

This post should have been an indication to fans that things were on the rocks, as he usually shared loved-up photos of him and Sophie together. 

Some eagle-eyed viewers did catch on, especially since Sophie hadn’t posted a photo with Brenton since June 23. 

On one of her recent photos, a fan commented: ‘What’s going on with you and Brenton?’

While another said: ‘Are you still with Brenton?’ And a third wrote:  ‘Where’s Brenton?’

Sophie announced the shock news on Tuesday night in an emotional Instagram post, and hinted it was a bitter breakup. 

The brunette beauty found love with Victoria cattle farmer Brenton earlier this year during filming for the popular Channel Seven show, and relocated to his farm in Darriman shortly after. 

‘I have an update to share,’ she wrote in her post. 

‘With a heavy heart, I want to let everyone know Brenton and I have gone our separate ways.

‘Reg (her dog Reginald) and I loved our life in Darriman and have been missing the farm a lot.’ 

Sophie alluded to an acrimonious split by calling the breakup ‘disappointing’ and said she is now revaluating ‘her values’. 

‘It’s a disappointing ending, but I’ve learned a lot about myself and my values,’ she added. 

‘I wish Brenton all the best and want to thank everyone for their support, especially my family and friends.’
