Starfield, Bethesda Game Studio’s latest single-player title, is set to release on September 6 for Xbox Series X | S and PC. Expectations are high for the game and understandably so. Starfield is The Elder Scroll and Fallout studio’s first new IP in 25 years. As such, many are eagerly awaiting the full release of the game.
Adding to the growing hype, Bethesda has announced that Starfield has gone gold and is now available for preload on the Xbox Series X | S. PC gamers will have to wait till August 30 before they can pre-install the game on their systems.
For folks who don’t know, when a game goes “Gold”, it essentially means that the title is feature complete and is ready to release. However, even after a game goes gold, there might still be a considerable amount of work to be done fixing bugs and improving other aspects of the game. So even if Starfield launches in a polished state, it may still get frequent patches and bug fixes through updates.
Moving on, users intending to preload Starfield on Xbox Series platforms will need to ensure there is plenty of free space, as the title appears to demand 126.1 GB storage space on consoles. PC gamers will need an additional 13.74 GB as the game apparently needs 139.84 GB of space.
All we have to do now is wait and hope that Starfield is a marked departure from Besthesda’s previous titles in terms of the number of bugs and the overall polish.
