Ice Universe claims to have obtained exclusive information about the Galaxy S24 Ultra, building on earlier leaks about Samsung’s next flagship smartphone. Reportedly, Samsung will switch to a titanium alloy mid-frame for next year’s Ultra, eschewing the current Armor Aluminium solution that it uses in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Incidentally, Apple is also expected to offer titanium frames with the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, among other upgrades from the current iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Somehow, the switch from aluminium to titanium will not increase the weight of the Galaxy S24 Ultra compared to its predecessor, despite titanium being heavier than aluminium. Instead, Ice Universe alleges that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will actually weigh 1 g less than the Galaxy S23 Ultra at 233 g. Thus, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should have a more scratch-resistant frame than the current-generation Ultra.
The same leaker adds that Samsung will integrate a new zoom button within its default camera app in time for the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s release. Allegedly, Samsung will add a 5x zoom option, with 2x, 3x and 10x currently offered for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Its successor is not rumoured to feature a corresponding 5x telephoto lens, though. Conversely, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will utilise in-sensor zoom, likely of its rumoured 50 MP and 3x telephoto camera.
