The Galaxy A04s got a 50MP main shooter as 1 of its 3 S23-esque rear cameras in 2023, despite being among the cheapest new Samsung smartphones around. However, according to a new leak, its successor the A05s will go back to basics in these terms next year.
According to an official FCC schematic, the device will have no more than 1 camera ring on its rear panel in 2024 – thereby shedding even more imaging tech than the A04 this year. The diagram is part of a new registration that approves the apparent A04s successor to use GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 5 along with its LTE bands. That’s it – no NFC, even.
Furthermore, the smartphone is equipped with an SLC-51 battery, said to have a typical capacity of no more than 4,000mAh. Then again, it can charge using Samsung’s “Fast Charging” 25W power brick (or EP-TA800), while the A04s is stuck at a 15W rating.
The device has been acknowledged as the SM-A057F or SM-A057F/DS by the FCC, although the NBTC attests that it is indeed the Galaxy A05s, whereas the SM-A055F/DS is the A05. Therefore, it seems Samsung’s non-5G smartphones are destined for particularly underwhelming specs with perhaps just 1 primary advantage to keep them at budget-friendly levels in the near future.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
