Xiaomi has now confirmed the release date for the POCO M6 Pro, a smartphone that it started teasing at the end of last month. To recap, the company initially revealed a portion of the device’s back panel, with two rear-facing cameras, a card slot and a wide POCO-branded camera housing shown. Xiaomi also promotes the POCO M6 Pro 5G as redefining ‘speed and connectivity’ on account of its 5G modem.
While the company has not confirmed the chipset that the POCO M6 Pro 5G relies upon, it is widely assumed to be the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Incidentally, Xiaomi may have already provided a look at the POCO M6 Pro 5G via the Redmi 12 5G, which debuted yesterday in India alongside a 4G variant. In summary, it would appear that the POCO M6 Pro 5G will launch with a 6.7-inch IPS display, a 5,000 mAh battery and a 50 MP primary camera, among other features. Please see our Redmi 12 5G launch article for more details.
For reference, both the Redmi 12 5G and POCO M6 Pro 5G are re-brands of the Redmi Note 12R, a model exclusive to China. As the screenshot below shows, Xiaomi will present the device on August 5, with POCO India confirming a 12:00 IST start time (08:30 UTC). Xiaomi has not outlined pricing yet, nor what memory configurations will be available. If the Redmi 12 5G is anything to go by, then the POCO M6 Pro 5G will start with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage offered at a surcharge. The POCO M6 Pro 5G will first be available through Flipkart, mirroring the Redmi 12 5G.
