In reviewing this exact Legion Slim 7i configuration with a Core i7-12700H CPU, an RTX 3060 GPU, and 16 GB of DDR4-4800 memory, we gave the laptop a “very good” rating of 88%. Among the aspects that impressed us the most were the sturdy chassis with excellent craftsmanship, a thin side profile measuring only 16.9 mm, and solid inputs.
Although our review unit was equipped with a 16-inch WQXGA display with a 2,560×1,600 resolution, the FHD+ panel showcased on the unit on sale should be plenty enough for gaming. Gamers should be pretty happy with the panel thanks to a 165 Hz refresh rate, 300 nits of brightness, G-SYNC support, and 100% coverage of the sRGB gamut.
Courtesy of the Core i7-12700H and the 100 W RTX 3060, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i is a stellar mid-ranger performer and consequently earned a performance rating of 86.9% in our testing. In particular, the 14-core Core i7-12700H showed excellent Cinebench R23 multi-core and single-core scores of 17,994 and 1,758, respectively.
Moving on to the GPU, the 100 W RTX 3060 should be enough to play modern games at FHD at decent frame rates. For instance, the Legion Slim 7i ran The Witcher 3 at 73.7 FPS and GTA V at 98 FPS at FHD/Ultra during our testing.
All in all, if you are after a mid-range gaming laptop that doesn’t break the bank, the open-box Lenovo Legion Slim 7i for only US$823.99 could be a pretty good purchase.
