Star Wars has just released a new teaser for Ahsoka, featuring the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. Having been Anakin’s apprentice during the Clone Wars, Ahsoka walked away from the Jedi Order and Skywalker before the events of Revenge of the Sith. Becoming a key hero of the Rebellion before the events of A New Hope, Ahsoka had a tragic reunion with her master after his fall to the dark side as Darth Vader. Now, Ahsoka is about to get her own live-action series set after the events of the original trilogy, though it’s now been confirmed that Anakin’s presence will definitely be felt.
During ABC’s broadcast of Ms. Marvel, an exciting new teaser for Ahsoka aired. Although it featured past footage of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker from the recent Obi-Wan Kenobi series as well as his first breaths as Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith, new dialogue from Christensen is heard with Anakin directly talking to Ahsoka. In the teaser, Anakin tells Ahsoka not to be afraid after confirming that she’ll be facing more than just droids, a key hint that this exchange is happening during the Clone Wars. Expressing his confidence in his apprentice’s abilities, simply hearing Hayden Christensen’s voice as Anakin with new dialogue is incredibly exciting for Star Wars fans who’ve long been hoping for his return. The teaser also featured John William’s iconic score with “Anakin’s Betrayal” from the Revenge of the Sith soundtrack.
Will Anakin Skywalker Return Via Flashback, Force Ghost, Or Both?
This new teaser is definitely hinting at a flashback to Anakin training a younger Ahsoka as she appeared in The Clone Wars animated series. However, there have also been hopes that Anakin and Ahsoka might be able to reconcile in the aftermath of the original trilogy following Anakin’s redemption after his decades in the dark as Darth Vader. After all, the last time they saw each other Darth Vader attempted to kill Ahsoka on the Sith world of Malachor. Wracked with guilt over what Anakin became after she left the Jedi Order, it would be amazing to see Ahsoka reunite with Anakin’s Force ghost.
At any rate, any kind of live-action interaction between Anakin and Ahsoka would be adored by Star Wars fans. As a result, this new dialogue from Hayden Christensen is the best evidence yet that he will indeed return as Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming Ahsoka show. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long as episodes 1 and 2 of Ahsoka will release on Disney+ on August 23.
