When Disney+ released all ten episodes of critically-acclaimed restaurant drama The Bear, viewers across the UK went wild for the tense story lines, hot characters and delicious looking food.
But fashion, not food, appears to have become the star of the immensely popular show’s second season.
Starring Jeremy Allen White as Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto, the series tells the tale of a fine-dining supremo who returns to his hometown of Chicago to run his late brother’s sandwich shop.
Dishes feature prominently through the show, but Carmy’s T-shirt seems to have surpassed the delicious looking props.
White’s character, who has become an unlikely sex symbol, sports a plain white T-shirt and jeans – often with an apron – for most of the show.
Fans have gone wild for the shirt – a £68 loopwheel number from German brand Merz B Schwanen – saying it’s the ‘best part of the show’.
‘Gonna need Carmy’s perfect white T-shirt, it’s so good oh my god. I think it would work on a girl,’ said one.

The T-shirt is made in a loopwheel factory, which means it is knitted in a continuous loop and therefore seamless.
Critics seem to agree with the general consensus that the T-shirt has elevated the show. The Guardian described white as the ‘James Dean’ of the kitchen, while men’s fashion bible Esquire said the show is ‘high key fashion television’.
In the first episode, the lead sells some very rare jackets – including a 1955 Levi’s Type III trucker jacket – to pay for the restaurant’s bills.
The choice, according to costume designer Cristina Spiridakis, is a nod to vintage American workwear.
‘It was never the intention to be ‘stylish’ per se…’ she told GQ.

‘Carmy is a person that appreciates quality and classics, items that last, that aren’t fussy or trendy – things created with a respect for the item itself.’
‘Chefs have a particular eye for detail and what looks good—quality, cut, colour, which I think has come through with Carmy,’ Costume designer Courtney Wheeler added to Esquire.
‘The Merz just fit him so well. And it’s such a great cut. The white T-shirt is perfect. Merz has a perfect cut, it truly is a great T-shirt,’ she added.
The market for premium white T-shirts has soared in recent years, while TikTok stars have also attempted to to recreate the look.

As well as the bear, in Emily in Paris, where the titular character Emily is romantically involved with a restaurateur – lustworthy chefs are certainly having a moment.
But it’s not just fictional chefs in the spotlight, with many real-life foodies becoming huge sensations on TikTok and Instagram.
Cedrik Lorenzen, a Swiss-born pastry chef, has racked up more than four million followers on TikTok and two million on Instagram with his cooking videos.
Fans say the show and Cammy’s T-shirt are ‘perfect’
The show is lead by Jeremy Allen White, an unlikely heartthrob at 5ft 7in.
The star, 32, has become the subject of thousands of fan pages, and said that people regularly approach him on the street to say his catchphrase ‘yes chef’.
However, British actor Will Poulter, 30, who made a cameo in the latest season, may be set to steal his shine.
A clip of the Marvel star went viral, with many saying he was ‘incredibly sexy’.
‘Will Poulter as a tattooed pastry chef in season 2 of The Bear will heal a broken nation,’ one wrote.
Carmy’s shirt will also remind many of ‘Connell’s Chain’ from Normal People.
When the BBC released all 12 episodes of its adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People in 2020, fans were launched into a social media frenzy, praising the show for it’s portrayal of consensual safe sex as well as swooning over Paul Mescal’s character, Connell.

But many focused their admiration on one particular part of Connell’s attire – his silver chain- with one starting an Instagram account in its name.
The simple silver chain – which is described in the book as ‘ Argos chic’ and is used to emphasise the class divide between Connell and Marianne (played by Daisy Edgar Jones) – is rarely off the student’s neck throughout the show, including in steamy shower and sex scenes between the troubled couple.
An Instagram account, @connellschain , which posts shots of Mescal in the show wearing the jewellery racked up 27,000 followers in three days, while Twitter users have also revealed their lust for the chain, which Vogue has dubbed the ‘most erotically charged prop’ on TV.
Asos revealed sales of male jewellery have rocketed 130 per cent since the show aired, while Argos says searches for men’s chains are up 56 per cent too.
