Amazon Italy has revealed various details about a successor to the Edge 30 Neo. Currently, the retailer has not uploaded a marketing image of the Edge 40 Neo. However, the specifications shown so far paint the device as a re-branded or reworked Edge 2022 for other markets. Arguably, this should come as no surprise, considering that Motorola has yet to release the Edge 2022 outside the US. Strangely, the Edge 2022 has nearly reached its first anniversary and is older than the Edge 30 Neo.
Nonetheless, Amazon Italy describes the Edge 40 Neo as relying upon the MediaTek Dimensity 1050, a chipset that debuted in the Edge 2022. Additionally, the Edge 40 Neo is said to feature a 144 Hz pOLED display and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 68 W wired charging, both matches for the Edge 2022. Likewise, Amazon Italy reports the Edge 40 Neo as featuring 50 MP primary and 13 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras, another similarity with the Edge 2022.
With that being said, Amazon Italy states that the Edge 40 Neo has a 6.55-inch display, 0.5-inches smaller than the equivalent in the Edge 2022. As such, the former is slightly smaller than the latter at 159.6 x 72 x 7.8 mm versus 160.9 x 74.2 x 8 mm. Incidentally, both handsets weigh 170 g, despite the apparent size differences. For now, Amazon Italy shows a September 15 release date, as well as a €399.99 retail price for a SKU with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Presumably, Motorola will offer cheaper memory configurations though, with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage serving as the cheapest Edge 2022 SKU.
