Kyle Sandilands complains ‘grumpy’ Matildas superstar Sam Kerr ‘refused to stop for selfies with young fans at the airport’ – but photos tell a very different story
Kyle Sandilands has accused Matildas superstar Sam Kerr of ‘not smiling enough’ following her return to Sydney ahead of Australia’s World Cup showdown against Denmark.
Kerr, 29, and her teammates touched down at Sydney Airport on Sunday ahead of the must-win game, and were greeted at gate by a small group of cheering young fans.
Footage has surfaced of Kerr briefly stopping for photos and autographs before making her way to the Matildas’ official bus outside.
Yet in extraordinary rant on The Kyle And Jackie O Show on Monday, Sandilands, 52, claimed the athlete failed to pay enough attention to the young fans.
‘If there’s three 10-year-old girls at the airport waving a flag, wanting a photo when you arrive, how about just stopping for three people? There’s not 300 there,’ Sandilands remarked.

The shock jock then took a dig at Kerr for supposedly appearing too grumpy.
‘And put a smile on your face every now and then. Little girls coming to meet you wouldn’t kill you to crack a smile,’ he scoffed.
His comments seem to contradict footage from Kerr’s arrival captured by 9News, which shows the sportswoman smiling and autographs for several young fans.
