The design of the Kia EV5 production model has supposedly been revealed. Pictures shared by media outlet Autohome have allegedly been leaked by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Assuming the images are authentic, as expected, the design is similar to the concept first revealed in March.
The Kia EV5 has a sculpted design featuring a Digital Tiger Face and an aerodynamic roof spoiler. Two versions of the new model are expected; a standard version and a long-range model with over 600 km (~372 miles) range. The SUV will feature a 214 hp motor, delivering up to 310 Nm torque. According to Autohome, the car will measure 4,615 x 1,875 x 1,715 mm (~182 x 74 x 68-in) and have a 2,750 mm (~108 in) wheelbase.
Reports earlier this month suggest that the Kia EV5 production model will be revealed at the Chengdu Motor Show starting August 25. The same post claimed that the car would retail for 50 million won (~US$39,000), a competitive price in markets like the US. The vehicle is expected to be available to order in China this November; it remains unclear when the e-SUV could launch in other markets.
