Snapchat engineer Kyle Goodrich just recently debuted an interesting and innovative approach to utilizing generative AI for transforming photos into unique works of art—an AI-powered hand-held camera. The device is a testimony of how artificial intelligence can blend with more analog forms of technology.
Dubbed ‘The DreamGenerator,’ the gadget employs a technology called Stable Diffusion, which runs on a Raspberry Pi computer found in the camera. This technology allows users to select from a variety of prompt themes—from retro and sci-fi to zombi and pirate—and then witness their photos being transformed into AI-generated artworks in real-time.
The AI-powered hand-held camera has a user-friendly and accessible interface as it is a familiar point-and-shoot gadget to many consumers. This may set it apart from many complex AI-powered tools available—therefore, Goodrich potentially democratizes the process of AI art generation further.
