Garmin appears to have upgraded its event features. A notification served to customers in the Garmin Connect app, reported by Gadgets & Wearables, suggests using the enhanced event database to find more details. The tool allows you to add verified race or event details to your calendar, which you can then use to adjust your training regime as necessary. For example, the Garmin Race Widget helps you to create a workout plan to reach your fitness goals in time for the event.
Another improvement implemented by Garmin is the search functionality, with additional filters to help you find a suitable event. The newer filters allow you to search for participation modes, such as in-person or virtual events, as well as searching by activity type, date and duration. Garmin also will enable you to filter events by their source, allowing you to see race hosts by verified sources.
The event database also links to services like Ahotu, a global endurance race calendar. You can access the elevated database on the Training & Planning tab (under More) > Races & Events > Find an Event. The update is expected to be part of the latest Garmin Connect update, Version 4.70 for Android and iOS, released several days ago with bug fixes and performance improvements.
