Emmerdale viewers were left stunned during Monday’s episode when Bob Hope suffered a cardiac arrest after learning of his partner Wendy Posner and Dr Liam Cavanagh’s affair.
Soap fans prised bosses of the serial for airing important scenes which saw the villagers quickly and correctly use the local defibrillator.
Bob (Tony Audenshaw) has been left reeling after discovering nurse Wendy (Susan Cookson) had been having an affair with the local GP Liam (Jonny McPherson).
In dramatic scenes this week, Bob was seen punching Liam on the nose in a fit of rage, prompting the medic to square up to him in return. However, Bob fell to the ground as he tripped over a stack of boxes.
Still in an absolute fury, Bob turned suddenly very ill as he went to get up, clutching at his chest before breaking out into a sweat and dropping back to the ground.

Dr Liam checked his pulse and breathing before calling for an ambulance and requesting the code for the village defibrillator.
Bob was shocked a number of times with the equipment after which he visibly started to breathe again.
He was rushed to hospital where he was fitted with a stent, with a distraught Wendy telling their pals he would need time to recuperate.
Taking to Twitter, viewers praised soap bosses for addressing the use of a defibrillator, while others predicted what could happen next for Bob once he recovers.
One person wrote: ‘What an episode! Poor Bob. But I have to say, the scene where he collapsed was very well written, especially with the defibrillator and Jacob’s help. Even if one person learned something from that, it could really save a life one day @emmerdale great job.’
While someone else shared: ‘Bob assaulted the very person who is now saving his life.’

It comes after Emmerdale fans let rip at Wendy Posner on Friday night as she ordered partner Bob to tell Bernice Blackstock to move out of the B&B.
The nurse had earlier confided in Victoria Sugden that she was struggling to get her relationship with Bob back on track following her affair with Dr Liam Cavanagh – and swiftly blamed Bernice for her problems.
Storming over to the B&B, Wendy confronted Bernice (Samantha Giles) and suggested that she moves out and when Bob approached them, she issued him with an ultimatum – either Bernice leaves or she does.
Seemingly forgetting about her own infidelity, Wendy fumed that they had ‘zero chance’ of sorting their relationship with Bob’s business partner ‘drooling over you every five minutes, ranting: ‘I want her out today or I leave, so you choose!’
Watching the scenes unfold, furious Emmerdale viewers slammed Wendy’s audacity at demanding Bernice leave despite her being the one who was unfaithful to Bob – with fans asking: ‘Who does she think she is.’

Avid watchers also pointed out that Wendy barely had a leg to stand on seeing as Bernice actually owned half of the B&B, so would unlikely want to leave her own home.
