The latest Texas Gigafactory overflight by Joe Tegtmeyer has caught one of the fresh Cybertruck Release Candidates darting around the factory grounds. The drone footage shows the Cybertruck leaving its Supercharger stall, accelerating with ease and doing tight turns around the premises until it finally goes inside.
One of these maneuvers shows the Cybertruck approach a 180-degree turn to manage a very tight radius thanks to the rear wheel steering system that Tesla will be shipping it with. The Cybertruck was already filmed doing hairpin turns at a covered parking lot, yet the drone footage from high above really puts its stellar turning radius into perspective, considering how big of an electric vehicle it is.
The overflight video also demonstrates the extremely fast acceleration that Tesla’s first electric pickup is capable of as it shoots like an arrow throughout the factory grounds. “The powerful drivetrain and low center of gravity provides extraordinary traction control and torque – enabling acceleration from 0-60 mph in as little as 2.9 seconds,” informs Tesla, and that acceleration claim is rather believable.
Tesla seems to be nearing the Cybertruck release date which Elon Musk said it’ll try to pin for September. The first production Cybertrucks that Tesla calls Release Candidates seem to multiply at the Texas factory by the day and they are now getting shipped out en masse, seemingly for various final tests.

Wooed by tech since the industrial espionage of Apple computers and the times of pixelized Nintendos, Daniel went and opened a gaming club when personal computers and consoles were still an expensive rarity. Nowadays, fascination is not with specs and speed but rather the lifestyle that computers in our pocket, house, and car have shoehorned us in, from the infinite scroll and the privacy hazards to authenticating every bit and move of our existence.
