The Coronation street star twins who originally played Bethany Platt looks totally unrecognisable 16 years since they left the show.  

Bethany is best recognised as the actress Lucy Fallon, 27, who most recently played the role from 2015 until her departure from the cobbles in March 2020. 

However, twins Amy and Emily Dalton first played Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) unexpected daughter after she gave birth at just 13-years-old. 

Between 2000 and 2007, the twin blonde girls shared the role between them before they headed off to Italy with their on screen mum to live in Milan. 

The Lancashire born pair were born in March 2000 and turned 23 earlier this year, but neither have chosen to pursue a career in acting.

During their time in Weatherfield the twins were part of some hard-hitting storylines as part of the drama-filled Platt family. 

One of their most memorable scenes was when Gail Platt’s serial killer ex-husband Richard Hillman attempted to murder his whole family by sending them plunging into a canal in his car, a scene all Corrie fans will remember. 

It was revealed earlier this month that Lucy Fallon is set to return to the cobbles after a three year break from the soap. 

She is set to rejoin the cast in scenes which are due to air after Christmas. 

Making the role her own, Lucy won several awards for her portrayal of Bethany, including Best Female Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards for her portrayal of Bethany in a grooming storyline.

A TV source told The Sun: ‘Lucy is one of soap’s most talented actresses who won lots of awards for her powerful portrayal of Bethany’s grooming storyline.

‘She was destined for big things and everyone was sad to see her go but the door was always going to be left open for someone of her calibre and popularity.

‘Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed.

‘She discussed it with her boyfriend, and family, because she’s a mum now with a baby. Once they’d talked about childcare, and how best to juggle it all, she was able to say she’d love to return.’
