A new beautiful piece of official Ahsoka artwork envisions Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice with her lightsabers at the ready. Rosario Dawson made her on-screen debut as the Jedi survivor during the character’s leap into live-action in The Mandalorian season 2, later reprising her role in The Book of Boba Fett. Ahsoka will see the Jedi set off on a search for lost Imperial leader Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) across the galaxy, encountering new emerging foes and old allies from Star Wars: Rebels.
As Star Wars fans await Ahsoka‘s surprising early premiere on August 22, the official Star Wars Twitter account has shared a new poster illustrated by artist Nicky Barkla has envisioned the Jedi igniting her white lightsabers as she sets out across the galaxy. In the piece, Barkla has Ahsoka donning her grey cloak as she holds her two lightsabers before her, blending the Jedi with the starry background behind her. The artist’s distinct piece also features swirling blue shapes across a white background inspired by the colors seen on her montrals, alongside markings inspired by the World Between Worlds seen in Star Wars: Rebels. Ahsoka’s Promotional Posters Tease Old Friends, New Foes, & Emotional Callbacks
Ahsoka‘s currently released promotional posters have given audiences their best glimpses at the core cast of the upcoming Disney+ show, showcasing both heroes of the Rebel Alliance and mysterious dark side acolytes. Two Star Wars: Rebels heroes recieved their own posters, as Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren and Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s General Hera Syndulla stood ready for action on a pair of posters showcasing each character individually. Meanwhile, returning The Mandalorian antagonist Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) and new lightsaber-brandishing antagonists Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) and Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson) represented the growing darkness across the galaxy in their own character posters.
However, it is Ahsoka’s own poster that carries a subtle nod to her character’s origins that has struck an emotional note with longtime fans of the character. In the poster that was released alongside the previously mentioned five, the Jedi is seen wielding only a single one of her lightsabers in a stance reminiscent of ones taken by her master Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) during his days as a Jedi Knight. While their last meeting ended in a heartbreaking duel, and Anakin has since became one with the Force, a recent Ahsoka TV spot featured narration spoken by Anakin seemingly taken from events during the Clone Wars, teasing potential flashback scenes or visions between the master and apprentice.
With Ahsoka set to follow the Jedi on a mysterious new journey across the galaxy, Barkla’s artwork is a distinct, ominous piece that captures a sense of wonder. Not only does the artwork focus on Ahsoka herself, but the fog-like blue swirls and mysterious markings create an air of mystery. With Thrawn’s whereabouts being unknown, the upcoming show could introduce a strange new side of the galaxy through Ahsoka’s mission, opening up the scope of that era.
Ahsoka premieres its first two episodes on August 22 on Disney+, followed by new episodes every Tuesday.
