Some time ago, Samsung bought the Snapdragon 888-powered Galaxy S21 FE back from the grave to sell in India. A recent Geekbench listing (via 91mobiles) suggests it still has a surplus of the two-generation-old flagship chips lying around, which will power the Galaxy M44 5G. The yet-to-be-announced smartphone is codenamed SM-M446K on the benchmarking platform.
It scores 1,531 and 3,771 points on Geenbench 6.1’s single and multi-core tests, respectively. That, combined with its motherboard, effectively confirm the Snapdragon 888’s existence in the Galaxy M44 5G, along with the clock speeds of its tri-cluster CPU. This variant packs 6 GB of RAM and runs Android 13 out of the box. Little else is known about its specs, but one can expect it to run a 120 Hz AMOLED screen with three or four rear cameras.
Unfortunately, there’s no telling when the Galaxy M44 5G will hit shelves. Its direct predecessor, the Galaxy M42 5G, was launched way back in April 2021. Furthermore, Samsung never launched a Galaxy M43 to fill the gap, so it is unclear where this will sit in the company’s ever-expanding and often-confusing repertoire of mid-range smartphones.
