It’s always worth going to the annual ChinaJoy tech event if possible, according to WHYLAB, at least. The well-known leaker claims to have ascertained that the Realme GT5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor at the 2023 event – which has also just seen the smartphone’s official launch announcement.
That tip might be the best indication yet that the device heretofore thought of as the GT Neo6 will drop its slightly more convoluted, sub-flagship branding to become the GT5 instead. According to its leaks, it will challenge the Pixel 8 Pro in terms of looks; the OPPO Find X6 in terms of display specs, and the OnePlus Ace 2 Pro in terms of cutting-edge internals.
This is because both devices are said to launch as their respective brands’ first ever 24GB RAM smartphones. Nevertheless, the GT5 will inherit the GT Neo5/GT3’s choice of 150W or top-end 240W SuperVOOC charging specs. Realme has yet to give an exact date for its launch, but promises a dramatic showdown when it is unleashed to confront other performance leaders in the Android arena.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
