Although MSI is primarily known for gaming hardware and notebooks, the company’s Summit line of laptops is meant to serve the productivity-focused crowd. In the lineup, the 2022 Summit E14 Flip is among the better options. The laptop is currently enjoying a considerable US$350 off at MSI’s store (via slickdeals).
As is evident by the name, the MSI Summit E14 Flip is a 2-in-1 convertible machine with a 360-degree hinge. The laptop features a 14-inch 2880×1800 resolution display with IPS technology and support for touch input. MSI claims the panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut and cranks up to 500 nits of brightness.
Under the hood, the MSI Summit E14 Flip on sale is powered by a 12th-gen Core i5-1240P CPU, 16 GB of LPDDR5-4800 memory, a 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, and a 72 Wh battery. So, the MSI Summit E14 Flip packs respectable hardware.
When it comes to real-world use, the MSI Summit E14 Flip is a commendable machine, as shown by our review. The review version which packed a Core i7-1260P, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB storage got a “good” rating of 86% largely thanks to its solid construction, excellent display, and strong CPU performance.
Going into more detail on the display, we found out that the MSI Summit E14 Flip’s 2.8K IPS panel covers 98% of the DCI-P3 gamut, boasts 468 nits of brightness, and a respectable contrast ratio of 1,656. All of these qualities result in a screen that should be a treat for media consumption as well as content creation.
On the performance side of things, the Core i7-1260P inside our review unit proved to be a snappy customer with the Cinbench R23 Multi-Core and Single-Core scores of 9,214 and 1,753 respectively. By comparison, the 12-core Core i5-1240P inside the machine on sale lags behind by 17% and 13% on average in the Cinebench R23 Single-Core and Multi-Core benchmarks respectively.
In short, the MSI Summit E14 Flip is capable enough to handle demanding workloads in addition to powering through all routine office tasks without breaking a sweat.
