In Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Link can have a maximum of 14 Full Hearts, but to reach that, he will need to find all 12 Heart Piece fragments.
Hearts are vital to Link in Zelda titles, and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages is no exception. Throughout the game, Link can retrieve heart fragments found in various areas of the map. Additionally, Link will also receive whole Heart Containers after defeating some of the game’s bosses.
Link will begin Zelda: Oracle of Ages with three full Heart Containers and then have the opportunity to max that out to a total of fourteen. That max number includes his 3 starting Hearts, 12 Heart Container pieces, and 8 Boss hearts. As the first three are given, and the Boss hearts can only be obtained through a mandatory boss encounter, the only ones Link needs to track down are the 12 Heart Pieces, which are luckily in less weird locations than Zelda: Ocarina of Time Heart Pieces.
The Heart Container fragments are quarter fragments, which means Link will need to find four fragments to make one complete heart. All the fragments, once collected, will add three full Hearts to Link.
All Heart Container Locations In Zelda: Oracle Of Ages
As stated, there are 12 different pieces to collect, drastically less than how many Hearts are found in Zelda: BOTW and Zelda: TOTK, and they are scattered over the game in several different locations. Some of these will have a requirement Link must meet before he can obtain it, such as having acquired a specific tool, and others of which are obtainable immediately and simply have to be found in their associated chapter.
Though it isn’t mandatory for Link to collect all or any of the Heart Container pieces in Zelda: Oracle of Ages, it is highly recommended since things will only become increasingly more difficult as the game progresses.
Location | Requirements | Description |
---|---|---|
Black Tower (Past) | Link will need to retrieve the Shovel from the Black Tower before he can obtain this heart. | Once Link has the Shovel, he can use it to dig outside the Black Tower to the right of the entrance. There he will dig up a Heart Piece. |
Maku Road (Past) | No special requirements. | In the top left of a room in Maku Road, there will be a block puzzle concealing a Heart Piece. Move the furthest left block up and then the one next to it to the left. This will create an opening for Link to grab the Heart Piece. |
Yoll Graveyard (Present) | Obtain the Power Bracelet in the Spirit’s Grave dungeon. | Once the Spirit’s Grave dungeon is completed, head back to Yoll’s Graveyard and move the stone in the bottom left to retrieve the Heart Piece. |
Deku Forest (Past) | Obtain some Ember Seeds. | From the location of the Wing Dungeon, head to the left twice, stopping before the furthest left screen. There, burn the tree with an Ember Seed and then head down the stairs where the Heart Piece will ultimately be waiting. |
Restoration Wall (Past) | Obtain the Power Bracelet from the Spirit’s Grave Dungeon and a Roc’s Feather. | Following the second dungeon of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, proceed out of the Deku Forest, going North and then reaching a cave containing the Heart Piece. Here, Link will need to use both required items to retrieve the Heart Piece. |
Symmetry Village (Past to Present) | Link needs to learn the Tune of Currents. | When on Talus Peaks, head down one screen from Tokkey’s place. Then move to the bottom left of the screen and play Tune of Currents which will bring Link back to the present. Then go to the right to find the Heart Container piece. |
Lynna Village (Past to Present) | Link needs to learn the Tune of Currents and have at least 500 Rupees. | While in Lynna Village, find the Ember Tree and head up once. Head to the tree on the furthest left and play the Tune of Currents to travel to the present and discover the shop. Head inside, and there will be a merchant offering the Heart Piece for 500 Rupees. |
Rolling Ridge | Link will need to acquire some bombs. | Near the Crown Dungeon, where Link saved the Goron Elder, jump off the cliff, head down once, and leave twice to enter the cave leading to the peak. Before reaching the exit, near where the Goron is, use a bomb on the cracked part of the wall on the right side. |
Link needs to learn the Tune of Currents. | While near the Mermaids Cave in the past, go left once and north once to proceed into the cave, which Link will follow to the end. Exit and go right once and then head to the top right and play the Tune of Currents. Link can then obtain the Heart Piece in the present. | |
Crescent Island (Present) | Link will need the Mermaid Suit. | Go to the location where Link meets Dimitri in Zelda: Oracle of Ages and then go up once and then to the right twice. Head through the passage and then go down two times. Finally, Link will need to go left, down, left, and up twice to reach a cave. Go inside to find a chest containing a Heart Container Piece. |
Random | Run into Maple. | While Maple is riding around, she can drop a Heart Container Piece. If Link holds her ring, he will only need to defeat 15 enemies to get her to appear rather than 30. Unfortunately, the drop will be random, and Link will likely need to encounter her several times before she drops it. Additionally, she will attempt to grab it, so be quick. |
Link will need to plant Gasha Seeds. | To obtain this Heart Piece, Link will need to find and plant Gasha Seeds. The Heart Container Piece will be located inside a Gasha Nut but is a rare item. Therefore Link will need to try a couple of times before he obtains one. Link can increase his chances by planting Gasha Seeds in hard-to-reach locations, which increases his chance of a Gasha Nut containing a rare item. |
